BREWER – James E. Rice Jr. 85, passed away Dec. 29, 2004, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor. He was born Aug. 29, 1919, in Bangor the son of the late James and Marion Rice Sr. James served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Bangor Roofing in 1980. James is survived by one son, James E. Rice III of Indiana; four daughters, Carol R. Ruybal and her husband, Lauren, of Waldoboro, Karen Rice and George Logan of Brewer, Kathy Rice and fianc?, Charles Bush III, of Orrington, and Dawn Drew and her husband, Tracy, of Eddington; three step-children, Brian MacFarland of Stockton Springs, Pamela Bull of Eddington, and Diana (MacFarland) Wain and her husband, Raymond, of East Corinth. He will be sadly missed by his brothers, Bernard and Robert Rice of Bangor; sister, Teresa (Rice) of Connecticut; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Beatrice D. (Weston) Rice; seven brothers and eight sisters. The family would like to thank the Maine Veterans’ Home D-Unit for the wonderful care and support they gave to James and his family. A gathering of remembrance will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Brookings-Smith Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Spring interment will be held at Mt. pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
