NEWPORT – Lawrence H. Erskine Sr., 88, died Dec. 30, 2004, at a Brewer rehabilitation center. He was born Jan. 31, 1916, in Plymouth a son of William and Lavon (Edminister) Erskine. Larry was a truck driver for Guilford Industries and General Electric Company. He is survived by two sons, Larry, Jr. and wife, Jan, of Oklahoma, Ronald Erskine and wife, Pam, of Newport; two daughters, Debra Cote of Florida, Sarah Jernigan and husband, Rob, of Hermon; four brothers, William Roger Erskine, Elton “Dick” Erskine, James Erskine, and Robert Erskine, all of Dixmont; a sister, Esther Winship of Unity; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Janet Kaufman. Larry was predeceased by his wife, Flora (Malcolm) Erskine; a sister Eunice Norris; a grandson, Larry Dean Erskine; and special friend, Maurice Waite. Friends may call 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating.
