VEAZIE – James G. Lay Sr., 58, went home to be with his Lord, Dec. 7, 2003. He was born June 1, 1945, in Knoxville, Tenn., the son of Huston and Lillian (Marshall) Lay. James enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, and spending time with his animals. He was an avid fan of classic western movies, and gospel music including the spiritual sounds of J. D. Sumner and the Gaither Gospel Group. James is survived by his wife, Kathleen Lay; five children, Patti, Bob, Duke, Christy, and Bobby; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Taylor, McKenna, Rosemary, Dennis, Hunter, and Nastassja; seven siblings, Charles, Renny, Louna, Charlene, Kathy, Margaret, and Frances; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and one brother, Joe. James will be sadly missed by his special friends and companions, “Emma” and “Chico.” Memorial donations in Jim’s memory may be sent to The Animal Orphanage, Airport Road, Old Town, ME 04468 or a charity of one’s choice.
