LIMESTONE – James L. Rogers, staff sergeant, USAF retired, died Dec. 30, 2004, at Presque Isle. He was born Jan. 9, 1930, in Dover, N.C., the son of Ernest and Beadie (White) Rogers. He served with the U.S. Air Force and was a retired staff sergeant, serving with the aircraft refueling squadron at Loring Air Force Base for many years. He married Arlene Kavanaugh Rogers Jan. 15, 1955. Surviving in addition to his wife of more than 49 years, Arlene of Limestone; are two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Gwen Rogers of Phoenix Ariz., Craig and Mary Rogers of Carthage, N.C.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Paul Oliver of Caswell, Cheryl and Karl Bishop of Treasure Island, Fla., and Rhonda and Shawn Howell of Indianapolis, Ind.; one sister, Viola Greer of Kinston NC.; five grandchildren, Benjamin Rogers, Aubrianna and Matthew Bishop, and Aaron and Ryan Howell; many nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by six brothers, Ward, Ray, Alvis, William, Larry and Milton; and a sister, Ava Forrest. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, from the Chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
