ST. AGATHA – Sr. Th?r?se Doucette, D.W., died Dec. 30, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. Born Th?r?se Cecile Doucette Jan. 11, 1936, in Madawaska, she was the daughter of Alexis and Catherine (Dufour) Doucette Sr. Th?r?se was a 1954 graduate of St. Agatha High School. Known in religion as Sr. Catherine of the Sacred Heart, she made Profession Aug. 22, 1956, in Litchfield, Conn. Sister’s teaching ministry was in Bristol, Conn., St. Agatha, and in the missions of Malawi, Africa from 1962 to 1966 and in Papua, New Guinea from 1972 to 1976. Her knowledge of history and languages made her a proficient teacher and translator. She spent the years from 1982 to 1997 working as a secretary and translator for the Union of Superiors General of Men’s Religious Congregation in Rome, Italy. She continued her work as translator in Clark’s Summit, Pa., in Bristol, Conn. and St. Agatha until the time of her death. Sr. Th?r?se is survived by a brother, Francis “Bob” of Concord, N.H.; a sister, Bernadette Meunier of Suffield, Conn.; special cousins, Joan and Ronald Ouellette of St. David; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and the Daughters of Wisdom. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Reno and Roger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday in St. Agatha Church with the Rev. Philip Cyr officiating, with concelebrant Rev. David Raymond. Friends and relatives may call 2-4 and 7-9 -p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha. Interment will be at Notre Dame de la Sagesse Cemetery in the spring.
