EAST MILLINOCKET – James P. Crawford, Sr., 89, died peacefully Aug. 27, 2004, at his home after a short illness, surrounded by his family. He was born March 12, 1915, in Millinocket, the son of John and Mary (O’Neil) Crawford. James graduated from Stearns High School. He was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and a former member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was employed at Bath Iron Works for three years during World War II and retired from Great Northern Paper Company in 1979, after 37 years of service. James is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Kathleen (MacDonald) Crawford. He was predeceased by a son, James Crawford Jr. in 1999. He is also survived by a son, Robert and his wife, Sharon, of Sherman; three daughters, Kathleen and her husband, Doug McFarland, of Frankfort, Maureen and her husband, Walter Dow, of Hampden, Eileen and her husband, Merl Annis, of Prospect. He was “Pappy” to 11 grandchildren, Sherry, Bobby, and Tony Crawford, Angela, and Dougie McFarland, Linda, Jennifer, and Mikey Dow, Scott, Ryan, and Kristen Annis; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; two sisters, Helen Spence, Eileen Moscone and her husband, Alphonso, all of Millinocket; three sisters-in-law, Maude Gallant and Nellie Purcell, both of East Millinocket, and Clarice Crawford of St. Joseph, Mo. He was predeceased by his parents and by three sisters, Mary Townsend, Elizabeth Walls Kelley, Marguerite Babin; and one brother, John Crawford. He also leaves behind several special nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Millinocket Regional Hospital.Friends may call at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, where the St. Anne’s Circle Daughters of Isabella will recite the Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in East Millinocket.
