CARIBOU – James Richard Plourde, 52, husband of Debbie (Chapman) Plourde, died Sept. 10, 2004, at Bangor. He was born March 9, 1952, in Caribou, the son of Emery and Ruth (Keating) Plourde. He was a graduate of Caribou High School and attended Unity and Husson College. Jim served with the U.S. Army as a military policeman in Korea. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he was a youth ministry advisor, taught CCD classes for a number of years and also served as the CYO basketball coach from 1983-85. Jim married Debbie Chapman Plourde July 20, 1973. He owned and operated the Caribou Laundercenter for many years. Jim was an avid golfer and had a true love for nature and the outdoors. He greatly enjoyed landscaping and gardening. He was a loving friend to many, always with a smile or kind word for all he would see. His fun sense of humor will be fondly remembered by many. Surviving in addition to his wife, Debbie; and his parents, Emery and Ruth “Jere” Plourde, all of Caribou; are his daughters, Jessica Wilson and her husband, Matthew and Jennifer Plourde and her significant other, Scott McCullough, all of Caribou; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Ronald and Lynn Plourde of Holliston, Mass., Robert and Linda Plourde of Cumberland, R.I., Emery Plourde Jr. PhD of Bennington, Vt., and John and Alverna Plourde of Hermon; one sister, Jane Plourde and her significant other, Bill Turner, of Framingham, Mass.; his mother-in-law, Thelma Chapman of Caribou; his brothers-in-law and their wives, Robert and Tricia Chapman, Rodney and Michelle Chapman, Mark and Trudy Chapman, and Donald and Diane Chapman; one sister-in-law and her husband, Rick and Lynn Plourde; 18 nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Friends may call 3-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with the Rev. David Raymond, officiating. Interment will be in the Maine Veterans Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Jim may do so through the Aroostook Medical Center Oncology clinic memorial fund. Envelopes are available through the funeral home.
