CHARLESTON – James “Jim” R. Ward, Sr., 50, loving husband and father, died Aug. 18, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 19, 1955, in Bangor, the son of Dorene (Woodard) Allen and the late Marcellus G. Ward. Jim successfully owned and operated Ward’s Auto Sales for the past 11 years and was also a successful amateur mud racer, winning many competitions with his mud truck “Itty Bitty Monster”. He enjoyed fishing, camping, many outdoor sports and spending time with friends and family. Jim was proud to have served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Martha (Michaud) Ward, of Charleston; three children, Heather and her husband, Michael Andersen, of Florida, James Ward Jr. of Charleston, Julie Cluckey of Dexter; three grandchildren, Kailee Ward, Amber and Ashley Cluckey; two sisters, Dee and her husband, David Boudreau, of Charleston, Lorna and her husband, Sean Sevigny, of Old Town; a brother, Timothy Ward of Charleston; several nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at Pingree Center Cemetery on Rt. 150, Parkman.
