SORRENTO – Jane A.E.D. Kalkow, 82, died Feb. 24, 2007, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor after suffering with Alzheimer’s. She was born July 7, 1924, in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of William and Ida (English) Cooper. Jane attended Provenside High School, Glasgow, Scotland; Nursing School, Willaby, Hull, England and Manchester Community College, Conn. She was a staff nurse and a registered respiratory therapist. She was a life member of the Eastern Star of Scotland; American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 207, Trenton; Senior Group, Gould-sboro and a volunteer for 10 years at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth, where she was honored as Volunteer of the Year in 2002. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John Kalkow of Sorrento; sister, Catherine C. Walker of Scotland; nephew, John Walker; and niece, Carol Walker. A memorial service will be held in Gouldsboro and Scotland, and announced in the spring.
