FARMINGDALE – Janet Cunningham Hagerthy, 74. Janet was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Sherman and Lillian (Butler) Cunningham. She attended Ellsworth schools and graduated from Eastern Maine Medical School as a registered nurse. She worked part time in many healthcare facilities until her retirement in 2003. Janet married George Hagerthy June 5, 1951, in Ellsworth. She was a lover of the outdoors, spending most summers at her and her husband’s family camp at Patten Pond in Ellsworth and, for some time, their chalet in Rangeley. Janet was a very compassionate high- energy person, always enjoying life and lending a helping hand to her family. She traveled worldwide, living in Germany and Bermuda for several years. This past summer Janet expressed her greatest outdoor joy was her time in her small boat with the electric motor on Patten Pond in Ellsworth. Janet is survived by daughter, Cynthia Grant of Farmingdale; one sister, Barbara Weymouth of Milford; three nieces, Sandra Knight, her husband, Richard, and their son, Gary, of Farmington; Karen and Ben Willard of Corinth; Sandra and Jim Hillman of Ellsworth; four nephews, Grayling Cunningham, his wife, Barbara, and their son, Anthony of Searsport; Gordon Cunningham and his children, Jonathan, Amy, and Mariah of Ellsworth; Richard Weymouth of San Diego, Calif.; Charles Weymouth, his wife, Ruth, and their children, Greg, Chris, Ben, Michelle, and Dodie of Milford; brother-in-law, Robert and Sylvia Hagerthy of Ellsworth; sister-in-law, Virginia Cunningham of Searsport. Janet was predeceased by her husband, George Hagerthy; brother, George Irving Cunningham; sister, Verna Torrance; aunt, Altie Perkins; cousins, Alfred Perkins and Agnes Lenfest. Friends may visit with the family 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Jordan Funeral Home, 113 Franklin Street, Ellsworth, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6., Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth.
