ORONO and ELLSWORTH Janice Elaine (Crockett) Fuller, 80, passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Aug. 11, 1927, in Auburn. Janice was the fourth and youngest child of Dwight and Florence (Mower) Crockett. Janice graduated from Edward Little High School in 1945. Janice attended the University of Maine in Orono and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1950. While attending the University of Maine in Orono, she met her future husband, Sam Fuller, whom she married May 19, 1951. Janice and Sam lived in Orono and Veazie, where they raised their three children. Janice was a registered nurse at Eastern Maine Medical Center for many years, working nights on Ward S. She later became a nursing instructor in the degree program at Eastern Maine Medical Center’s School of Nursing. She earned her Master of Education from the University of Maine in Orono in 1977. In 1986, Janice and Sam retired to their home on Branch Lake, Ellsworth, where they enjoyed gardening and winter trips to Florida and Mexico. Janice’s other interests included, quilting, knitting, traveling and learning Spanish. She was involved with barbershop singing and worked as a staff member for Weight Watchers International after she retired. Janice also volunteered for nature projects in Florida and at the Eastern Maine Medical Center gift shop. Throughout her life, Janice always had a great sense of humor and a zest for living. Those qualities were contagious to anyone who spent time with her, and her smile and laughter are two of the things those who knew her will miss most. Janice is survived by her loving husband, Sam Sr., to whom she was married for 56 years. She is also survived by her son, Sam Fuller Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Stockton Springs; son, David Fuller and fianc?e, Shirley Hager, of Chesterville; and daughter, Susan Arlene Fuller of Bangor; and grandchildren, Steven Fuller of Orland, Michael and Sarah Fuller of Stockton Springs. She was predeceased by a son, Stephen E. Fuller; sisters, Nelda Wilcoxson and Arlene Thomas; and brother, Dwight Crockett Jr. A memorial service will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service. Internment will be held at a later date.
