MILLINOCKET – Jasmine “Jessie” Palmer Davis, 89, wife of the late Vernon G. Davis, went to be with her Lord on Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, after a long illness. She was born in Medway on March 22, 1915, the daughter of Calvin and Lena (Caswell) Palmer. She married Vernon Davis of Montpelier, Va. on March 20, 1939, and was a devoted wife until his death on April 23, 1972. Jessie was a graduate of Zion Bible Institute in Providence, R.I. and always remained faithful to her Lord, no matter what the circumstances. After working many years for Great American Insurance Company in New York City, Jessie moved to Millinocket when Vernon retired in 1971. While living in New York City, she was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, and after moving to Millinocket, she attended Millinocket Baptist Church and Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in East Millinocket. Jessie was especially fond of her friends at Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church, and they, in turn, blessed her with many cards and prayers during her stay at the nursing home. She also received gentle, tender loving care at Katahdin Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for 15 years. Throughout her life, the needs of others always came first. Survivors include one brother, John Page of Medway; one brother-in-law, Carl Davis and wife, Nell, of Montpelier, Va.; several nieces and nephews of both Maine and Virginia, and “special” nieces and nephew, Maryann Brown of Leesburg, Fla., Polly Boynton and Ray Campbell of Millinocket. Friends may call at R. L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket at 1 p.m. until time of services on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005 which will be held at 2 p.m. Mr. Kendall Sperry of Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church will officiate.
