OLD TOWN – Jean Aho, 64, passed away peacefully Oct. 20, 2006, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born Aug. 31, 1942, in Boston, the daughter of Glenn and Evelyn (Simpson) MacNutt. Jean cared for and supported an extended family with love. She was a graduate of the University of Maine earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, Masters of Education in community agency counselor, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in counselor education. Jean was awarded several awards, including the Harry S. Truman Scholar Award in 1987 for public service, Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award, University of Maine – Presque Isle; biographical inclusion in 1996, Marquis Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, 1995 Marquis Who’s Who in the World, 1994 Marquis Who’s Who of American Women and 1993 Marquis Who’s Who in the East. She is survived by three children, Sara-Lee Beller of Bartlett, Tenn., Leslee K. Kelley of Scarborough and Glenn Aho of Lincoln; nine grandchildren, Michael Blizzard, Jonathan Stanley, Garrett Kelley, Lindsey Kelley, William Beller, Joseph Beller, Michelle Dickinson, Corey Shafer and Jennifer Robbins; a brother, Glenn Stephen MacNutt of Gloucester, Mass.; a sister Karen L. MacNutt of Dorchester, Mass.; foster children, Helen Morrarty of Caribou, Virginia Beal of Old Town, Vickie Currie of Hermon and Peter John Pappas-Grafenoehr of Germany; special friends, Raymond and Susie Posocco of Muncie, Ind., and Scott Andrew MacLeod of St. Andrew’s, New Brunswick. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct 23, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct 24, with the Rev. Scott Benner, pastor of the United Baptist Church of Old Town, officiating. Interment will be at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town.
