VEAZIE – Jean Bryant Fuller, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 21, 2007, awaiting the return of Jesus Christ. She was born Jan. 17, 1923, in Chicago, the daughter of Carleton and Margaret (Smith) Bryant. She grew up in Pawtucket, R.I., graduated from Pawtucket High School in 1940, and received a full scholarship to Pembroke College at Brown University. During this time, she was an avid bicyclist, traveling around the country staying in youth hostels. She belonged to the Appalachian Mountain Club. After college, she worked at Woods Hole in the marine biological lab. She worked for Harvard Computation Laboratory, and then went on to work for Harvard Medical School, researching nutrition in mice. She met Harrison W. Fuller. They were married at Old South Church, Boston, where she was a member. Other work experiences included Countway Library Reference Department, Children’s Hospital Medical Center, in several capacities and Harvard School of Public Health. Jean’s love for family shined through at this time as she gathered everyone for summering at Duxbury, Mass. After living in Needham, Mass., for nearly 50 years, Jean moved to Veazie. Jean loved greeting people at the “fellowship room” in her house for various study evenings, church time, ladies nights and visiting home health staff. She would blow kisses to everyone if she couldn’t be at the door. Her favorite social time outside the house for the past few years has been at the program called My Friend’s Place, located at United Methodist Church, Outer Essex Street. This social activity program for memory loss individuals provided hours of research for contributing to weekly themes, such as remembering family travels, holidays and historic events. She is survived by her brother and his wife, Robert and Audrey Bryant of Agawam, Mass.; her four devoted children, daughter and her husband, Becky and John Drury of Needham, Mass., daughter and her husband, Gail and Wally Kimball of Veazie, son and his wife, Stephen and Liz Fuller of East Falmouth, Mass., and son and his wife, Paul and Sandy Fuller of Bangor; eight grandchildren, Mike and Anne Drury, Jonathan, Joshua, Daniel and Matthew Fuller and Sam and Ruth Fuller; and a great-grandson, Shamus Michael Drury. The family invites everyone to celebrate the life of Jean Fuller 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor.
