BREMEN – Jean Dennison Conley, 82, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2006, at MaineGeneral Hospital in Augusta. Mrs. Conley was born March 16, 1923, in New York City, N.Y., a daughter of Ruth Lenfest and William Winslow Dennison. In 1941, Jean graduated from Morse High School in Bath and then in 1942, from Columbia Presbyterian Hospital School of Dental Hygiene. She joined WAVES in December 1942 and served until 1946. She married her husband of 56 years, John T. Conley Jr. in 1948. Under the G.I. bill she attended three years at University of Maine, Orono with a major in physical education. She worked as a dental hygienist in Skowhegan and Portland and lastly for Dr. Walter Strang in Camden, until her retirement in 1981. Jean was very athletic and loved all sports including softball, badminton, tennis and especially basketball. She was selected for the All-Maine Sports Basketball Team. She was an avid bridge player. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonies and she played violin in the Lincoln County Orchestra. She was predeceased by her husband, John T. Conley Jr.; and sister, Alice Fairchild. Survivors include her sons, John David Conley of Old Orchard, Mark William Conley of Raymond; daughter, Anne Conley of Thomaston; sister, Judi Mackenzie of Portland; brother, Richard Dennison of Boston, Mass.; grandchildren, Zachary John Conley and Jake Lewis Conley, both of Raymond; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Jean’s life will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. The Rev. Robert Dorr will officiate. Burial will be in the German Cemetery in Waldoboro at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, NE Division, One Main Street, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
