FAIRHOPE, Ala. – Jean M. Matthews, 87, died July 1, 2007. Though she was born in Pennsylvania and spent most of her married years in Oklahoma, Massachusetts and Connecticut, she had a long-lasting love for Maine, especially the Machias area, where the family owned a camp. She was a librarian and teacher with elementary and high school children. She loved reading books and sailing as a family. She has three living children, Blair Blaine of Bangor, Perry Matthews and his wife, Meta, of Westminster, Colo., and Rodney Matthews and his wife, Karen, of Fairhope, Ala.; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. You are invited to celebrate with our family and friends, the life of Jean M. Matthews at a memorial service in her honor. It will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Pilgrim Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Bangor. A reception will be held after the service.
