ORONO – Jean McCarthy Hall passed away Dec. 11, 2007. Jean spent the final weeks of her life at home in the loving care of her children, Ethan and Lydia; her husband, Douglas; and her devoted sister, Lyn. Jessica, a stepsister who loved Jean, flew up from New York City to help when Jean first returned from the hospital. Our wonderful neighbors kept our family supplied with food, flowers and friendship. We are especially blessed to have had two of our oldest and best friends, Peter Millard and Emily Wesson, with us all along the way. Jean’s siblings, sisters, Susan and Sarah; and her brother, Bill, although living at some distance, have kept in constant touch, visited as often as they could and have been an invaluable source of aid and comfort. There will be a commemorative gathering 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Orono Community Center, Bennoch Road. The family hopes that many of Jean’s friends will join us there.
