VAN BUREN – Jeanne C. Bouchard, 96, died Nov. 26, 2006, at a Van Buren nursing home after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 10, 1910, in St. Andre, New Brunswick, the daughter of Denis and Marie Anne (Rioux) Cormier. Jeanne worked at the Hammond Hotel as a chef for 25 years and later at the Van Buren Hotel for 10 years. She was well known for her cooking skills, especially her pies. She was a member of the Third Order of Mary and the Catholic Order of Foresters, serving as secretary for their insurance program for many years. Jeanne was a loving mother and was totally devoted to her children who were her pride and joy. She worked hard and unselfishly to provide generously for them and their education. Her neighbors remember her as a very generous person with a big heart. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her dearly. Jeanne is survived by two daughters, Mona Rossignol and her husband, John, of Van Buren and Jacqueline Stone and her husband, Gene, of Scarborough; one son, Robert Bouchard and his wife, Estelle, of Van Buren; one sister, Gertrude Guerrette of Bristol, Conn.; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, Muriel Ouellette of Van Buren. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Bouchard in 1977; two sons, Gerald Bouchard and Norman Bouchard; one daughter, Carol Allen; brothers, Enoil Cormier, Joseph Cormier and Leo D. Cormier; sisters, Bertha Sirois, Simone Small and Germaine Bouffard; and other siblings who died in infancy. A special thanks to the staff at Borderview Manor who lovingly cared for her, especially in the last days. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of service at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be at the parish cemetery.
