BANGOR and ORONO – Jeanne Margaret (Dumond) LaPierre, 86, wife of the late Roger LaPierre, died peacefully Jan. 21, 2008, at a Bangor nursing center. She was born in Lille, the daughter of Alvy and Olive (Cyr) Dumond. Jeanne met Roger and began working hand and “in” hand after their marriage in 1943, raising two children. She felt the need to help others and became a certified nurse’s aide, working at local Van Buren medical facilities until retirement. Helping people was one of Jeanne’s joys, which always made her smile and develop lifelong friendships. She loved knitting and crocheting, and especially loved making gifts for her children and granddaughter. Jeanne and Roger made their move to the Bangor area in 1990, to be near their children and had been attending St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They especially enjoyed having family gatherings where they always shared much laughter and many stories. She will be sadly missed by her two children, Rodney LaPierre and his wife, Linda, and Lorraine Pelletier and her husband, Armand, all of Bangor; one granddaughter, whom she cherished, Leslie and her husband, Jamie McTigue, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one brother, Joseph Dumond of East Hartford, Conn.; many nieces and nephews, who adored her. She was predeceased by her husband, parents; three brothers, Anthem, Romule and James; and three sisters, Aline, Aurea and Julie. Family and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor, with the Rev. Thomas Lequin, pastor, celebrant. A time of continued fellowship and celebration of her wonderful life will be immediately afterward in the parish center. Committal and burial at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, will be in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, Inc., care of Connecticut Nutmeg Chapter MSGA, 22 Eagle Dr., Shelton, CT 06484. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. Condolences may be offered at www.kileyfuneralhome.com.
