MARS HILL – Jennie M. Twombly, 89, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at a Mars Hill nursing home. She was born Dec. 12, 1914, in Mars Hill, the daughter of James and Margaret (Swaim) Bell. Jennie was a former member of the Rebekahs. She was also an accomplished pianist. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Picard and her husband, Gene, of Mars Hill; a granddaughter, Kelley Wheeler and her husband, Gary, of Sidney; a sister-in-law, Mary Twombly, of Durham, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Basil, Jennie was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth and Alfred. A private graveside service will be held in the spring at King’s Grove Cemetery.
