WINDSOR – Jerome “Jerry” A. Whitaker passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 13, 2007, while working. Jerry was born May 24, 1944, in Windsor, the son of Clarence M. and Christabelle (Fuller) Whitaker. He married the former Doris Lincoln, May 20, 1966. Jerry graduated from Cony High School, Class of 1962. He attended the University of Maine in Orono for three years, and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. During his life, he was employed at Bob Chambers Ford, Augusta, as a truck salesman. He was a member of the Windsor Fire Department for 35 years and was their fire chief for 14 years. He was also a member of the Windsor Ambulance Service for 18 years. He was very active in the town of Windsor, serving in many capacities including, road commissioner for 11 years. Recently, he owned and operated Whitaker & Son Excavation. Jerry was a member of the Dirigo Lodge No. 104, AF & AM, Weeks Mills and also the Kora Temple Shiners. He loved classic cars and enjoyed traveling and exploring new places. He also enjoyed people and especially loved serving the town of Windsor. Jerry was a great husband, father and friend, who will be sadly missed. Jerry was predeceased by his parents; and an infant sister, Judith Whitaker. He is survived by his wife, Doris Whitaker of Windsor; a daughter, Kim Curtis and husband, Philip, of Winthrop, Mass.; a son, Lee Whitaker and wife, Kristina, of Windsor; brother, Stanton Whitaker and wife, Donna, of Augusta; sister, Priscilla Clark and husband, Lloyd, of Windsor; aunt and uncle, Marie Priest and husband, Austin, of Manchester; many nieces, nephews and cousins; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 15, with a Masonic service 7 p.m. at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home – Gray Chapel, 207 Windsor Neck Road, Windsor, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16. Burial will be held after at Rest Haven Cemetery, Windsor. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jerry’s memory to American Heart Association, 51 U.S. Route 1, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074 or a check may be made to Maine State Federation of Fire Fighters, care of Bill Vickerson, P.O.
