BEALS – Jerome W. Crowley, 90, died Feb. 29, 2008, at a Machias hospital. He was born June 25, 1917, in Beals, the son of Harry L. and Mina B. (Alley) Crowley. Jerome was a member of Beals Wesleyan Church and Jonesport Lodge No. 188 AF & AM. He worked as a lobster fishermen for more than 60 years, while at the same time he owned and operated a general store for 20 years and clam shops in Beals and Jonesport. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially spending time with his great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Obeline (Burke) Crow-ley; one son, Leon J. Crowley and his wife, Bonnie L., of Beals; two grandchildren, Chris Crowley and his wife, LeaAnn, of Beals and Craig Crowley and his wife, Marni, of Jones-port; five great-grand-children, Christopher, Kaitlynn, Marc, Lauren and Rachel; a sister-in-law, Jane M. Crowley; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Harry L. Crowley Jr. Friends may call 2-5 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at Beals Wesleyan Church, Elm Street, Beals Island, where a funeral service will be celebrated 1 p.m. Monday with Pastor Jesse Merchant and Pastor George Woodward co-officiating.
