ELLSWORTH – Jerry James Jordan, 62, died July 8, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 1, 1943, in Ann Arbor, Mich., the son of Paul and Bernice (Porter) Jordan. Jerry was a certified optician specializing in artificial eyes. He was also the owner of Jerry J. Jordan Opticians, known for its trademark eight foot pair of glasses, for 34 years. His love and pride of his business were evident to all. He was a true people person, a past member of the Ellsworth Rotary Club, and former board member of the YMCA. He was a sponsor for many community events including the Soap Box Derby. Jerry was an avid drummer and had a passion for playing drums ever since his childhood. He was in bands throughout his life and was well known for his drumming with the Fletcher’s Landing Philharmonic Orchestra at Ellsworth’s annual Blueberry Pancake Breakfast and the Fourth of July Parade. Jerry was an energetic person who pursued many hobbies such as boating, kayaking, ATVing and shooting. He also had a love of motorcycling and enjoyed riding every weekend with his wife, Loretta. They visited such places as the Baseball Hall of Fame and Niagara Falls on their motorcycles. His energetic personality and love of life and family will always be missed. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta Jordan; two sons, Todd and his wife, Ann, of Dedham, Mass., Jeffery and his wife, Jennifer, of Milford, Mass.; and two grandchildren, Molly Margaret Jordan and Zachery Andrew Jordan. Friends may visit with the family 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at the Jordan Funeral Home, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 13.
