BANGOR – Jerry M. “Jay” Parent, 64, died peacefully Jan. 29, 2007, at a Bangor nursing home after a long illness. He was born March 4, 1942, in Bangor, the son of Jerry and Mary (Furlong) Parent. Jay attended St. Mary’s school, John Bapst High School and graduated from Husson College in 1964. He drove bus for the City of Bangor for 23 years and was a loving father to Jayson. They enjoyed their trips to the coast and the lobster dinners. Surviving, in addition to his son and his son’s mother, Norma (Crooker) Shaw, both of Bangor are his father and mother-in-law, Merle and Helen Crooker of Hampden; brothers-in-law, Brian Crooker of Minnesota, Larry Crooker and his wife, Marcia, of Hampden, Roger Crooker and his wife, Kathy, of Hampden, Scott Crooker and his wife, Kim, of Hampden and Randy Crooker and his wife, Melissa, of Corinth; sisters-in-law, Faith (Crooker) Baker and her husband, Rick, of Virginia, Janet Kyhkynen of Bangor; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jay will be fondly remembered by special friends, Dave Witham of Massachusetts and Ashley and Mary Curtis of Searsport. He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Alan Parent. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth. A Mass of Christian burial will be said 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 754 Ohio St., Bangor, with the Rev. Thomas Farley officiating. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
