EASTPORT – Jess J. Cook, 70, passed away Dec. 14, 2004, at the Down East Community Hospital in Machias. He was born in Eastport, April 21, 1934, the son of Jesse and Elaine (Whalen) Cook. Jess was a proprietor of a well-known convenience store, Cook and Goodeills for 39 years. He also owned and operated Cook’s Transport. He enjoyed being a local fisherman with his family. After retirement he enjoyed traveling. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carlene of Eastport; son, John and wife, Patti Cook, of Eastport; daughters, Lorie and her husband, James Raye, of Eastport, Janna and her husband, Butch Harris, of Eastport; sisters, Margaret and her husband, Sherman Leighton, of Pembroke, Pauline Humphries of Perry; and special uncle, James Cook and his wife, Pat, of Eastport; grandchildren, John and Sharon Cook of Eastport, Jennifer of Ellsworth, Sandi and Kevin Bellerose of Winterport, Thomas and Jessie Raye of Hampden, Jason and Angela Cook of Charlotte, Michael and Monica Raye of Robbinston, Halie and Matthew Harris of Eastport; eight great-grandchildren, Thomas and Kaitlynn Raye, Jacquelyn and Jacob Cook, Michael and Andrew Raye, Lauren Cook, Samantha Bellerose; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at Flagg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sheldon Keezer officiating. Interment will be in Leland Cemetery, Perry.
