SEARSPORT and BELFAST Jessie M. York, 84, died June 5, 2007, at Harbor Hill, Belfast, where she had resided for several years. Jessie was born April 1, 1923, in Palmer, Mass., daughter of Henry and Merle (Harris) York. She graduated in 1941 from Dracut High School, Dracut, Mass., and then worked for many years as a bookkeeper at R.C. Peabody Plumbing and Heating Co., Manchester, N.H., retiring in 1985 as office manager. She moved to Maine in 1988 and was a longtime resident of Belfast. Jessie is survived by a brother, Eric York and his wife, Joel, of Salt Lake City; a sister-in-law, Colleen York of Searsport; a brother-in-law, Milton Thompson of Virginia Beach, Va.; three nephews, James York and his wife, Betty, of Belfast, Rick York and his wife, Janis, of Moab, Utah, and Neil York and his wife, Carole, of Salt Lake City; two nieces, Deborah Hicks and her husband, Gary, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Gail Sirois and her husband, Dennis, of Springfield, Va.; 10 great-nieces, seven great-nephews, several great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews. In addition to her parents, Jessie was predeceased by two sisters, Muriel Thompson and Harriette Sargent; and brother, Robert York. Jessie’s family extends their appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Harbor Hill for the loving care their Aunt Jessie received throughout the years. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 11, at Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport, with the Rev. David Abbott officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Searsport.
