LUBEC – Jessie P. Stafford, 87, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at a Lubec nursing home. Jessie was born Dec. 11, 1916, in Lubec, the daughter of the late Clyde and Mary (Ryerson) Parker. She married William Stafford in 1933. Jessie worked in the local fish factories until the age of 83, when an illness forced her into retirement. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Lubec. Jessie enjoyed crocheting; going to yard sales; her family; and she loved all. She was predeceased by her husband in 1973; a son, Raymond Stafford and a daughter, Joanne Stafford. Surviving are a son, Robert Stafford of Lubec; a sister, Hazel Tyler of Lubec; two grandchildren, Gary Stafford and Bobbi-Jo Varney, both of Lubec; three great-grandchildren, Aaron Stafford and Tyler and Mallory Varney; and two nephews, John Tyler and his wife, Pat, of Keene, N.H., and Galen Tyler and his wife, Cheryl, of East Hampton, Conn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, at Sacred Heart Church in Lubec with the Very Rev. Mark Nolette, celebrant. Burial will follow in Corey Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations in Jessie’s memory to either Oceanview Nursing Home or Sacred Heart Church. Arrangements by Scott-Wilson Funeral Home.
