BANGOR – Joan A. Hayes, 80, died May 1, 2006, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Bangor, the daughter of Walter and Ethel (Cousins) Morey. Joan grew up attending Brewer schools, graduated from Brewer High School and graduated from Husson College. She was a long time employee and retired from Sears and Roebuck Co. Joan was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by a son, Morey Hayes and wife, Deborah, of Glenburn; a daughter, Nancy Todd of Canton, N.Y.; and a grandson, Grady Hayes of Glenburn. She was predeceased by a sister, Francena Morey in 1994; and her beloved husband, Byron Hayes in 1996. Graveside funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, May 4, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson, Chaplain of Husson College officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service.
