JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Joan L. (Clark) Joy, 75, beloved wife of George, passed away March 8, 2007, in Jacksonville, Fla., after a long courageous battle with cancer. Joan was born Nov. 26, 1931, in Jonesport, the daughter of Leona (MacPherson) and Percy Clark. Joan graduated from Jonesport High School in 1948. After working in area restaurants and bakeries, Joan owned and operated The Dairy Bar, Addison, for 25 years. Known for her seafood baskets and lobster rolls, Joan retired in the late 1990s. Along with spending time with grandchildren, Joan enjoyed reading, Beano and cooking. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, George; sons, Barry and wife, Rita, Scott and wife, Laura, and Anthony and wife, Felicia, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, Cody, Derek, Kelsey, Tiffany and Kerstyn; sister, Carolyn Wright and husband, Donnie, of Milbridge; sister-in-law, Arlene Guptil; Aunt Doris; special friend, Pat Carver, as well as many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Shawn, in 2005; and sister, Sally Smith, in 1985. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at Shindler Drive Baptist Church, 7100 Shindler Drive, Jacksonville, Fla. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to Northeast Florida Community Hospital, Acosta-Rua Center, 5450 Ramona Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205.
