OLD TOWN – Joan M. Lucas, 73, passed away peacefully Nov. 26, 2004, with her family and friends by her side at an Orono healthcare facility. She was born Nov. 7, 1931, in Old Town the daughter of the late Earl G. and Mary (Burke) LaFlamme. She was a 1950 graduate of Old Town High School. Joan was a loving caregiver of children for many years. She enjoyed knitting and playing cards with family and friends. She was a member of Holy Family Parish in Old Town. Joan is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bernard; two loving sons, Bernie Lucas and his wife, Cathy, of Old Town, David Lucas and his wife, Rhonda, of Orono; three special brothers, Raymond and his wife, Marilyn, of Indiana, Paul and his wife, Bernice, of Cape Cod, Kenneth and his wife, Corda, of Old Town; a special grandson, Kent of Orono; and special granddaughter, Holly of Alaska; a “special” sister, Gertrude Nevells of Orono; special friends Kenneth and Ruthie Lucas and Roberta Fowler; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Earl in 1999. At her request there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 3 p.m. Tuesday, at Holy Family Parish with the Rev. Normand Richard, celebrant. Private interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Orono. Immediately following the Mass, all are invited to the Parish Hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship. A special thank you to the staff at Orono Commons for their special care they provided to Joan during the past few weeks.
