HOLDEN – Joan Marie Frederic, 57, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, peacefully at home. She was born Aug. 27, 1949, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Estella (Higgins) and Kenneth Frederic. Ms. Frederic graduated from Brewer High School in 1967 and then worked at the phone company for several years. She owned and ran the Country Squire store for 20 years, serving the town of Holden with her kindness, generosity and humor. She then went on to work in the antique and furniture restoration trade where her true artistry was able to shine. She had innumerable talents and will be remembered for her beautiful artwork, intricate costumes, her amazing sense of humor and her ability to cook works of art for her friends and family. She is survived by her daughter, Anastacia Hunton of Boston; her son, Laurence Van Peursem III of Bangor; her brother, Kenneth Frederic Jr. of Sykesville, Md.; and her sister, Mary Clift of Ellsworth. She also would want to recognize her boys at Owen Gray, for she loved them all dearly. A celebration of Joan’s life will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the home of her sister, Mary Clift, 194 Hanson Landing Road, Ellsworth. Her children also request for family and friends to bring any pictures you may have of their mother, so they can be scanned and returned, as her children would like to put together a memorial album. In lieu of flowers, for those wishing to honor Joan’s memory, the family would like to suggest a contribution in support of her daughter, Staci’s dental school education. Donations may be sent to Staci Hunton, 147 West Concord St., No. 1, Boston, MA 02118. For information email ppirticats@gmail.com
