CARIBOU and JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Joan T. Selander, 76, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, surrounded by her family, in Caribou. She was born July 19, 1930, in Jersey City, N.J., the daughter of Conrad and Eleanor (Connelly) Eckes. She was a graduate of Saint Michael’s High School, Union City, N.J., Class of 1948. She was employed by Statewide Savings Bank and Independence Savings as a teller and assistant manager until her retirement in 2000. She was also a founding member of the St. Paul of the Cross school library and the Heights Hope Neighborhood Association. Joan was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Jan. 14, 2001. She is survived by her sister, Marie Eckes of Arlington, Va.; her son, Mark of Jersey City, N.J.; her daughter, Lynn of Alexandria, Va.; her son, Arthur and his wife, Lynn, of Caribou; her daughter, Susan Constantino and her husband, Charles, of South Riding, Va.; and her seven grandchildren, Monica, Steven, Jenna and Michael Selander, all of Caribou and Charles, Daniel and Matthew Constantino, all of South Riding, Va. Services will be held in Jersey City, N.J., at a later date. Arrangements are by the Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.
