ELLSWORTH – Joanne L. Staples, 74, went home to be with her Lord, Aug. 13, 2006, at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. She was born Feb. 20, 1932, in Bangor, the daughter of Orie and Lillian (Strout) Blaisdell. Joanne was a very social and caring person, and enjoyed being a homemaker. She loved her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a former member of St. Dunston’s Episcopal Church, where she was the church secretary for many years. She more recently attended the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Joanne is survived by her daughters, Diane Delaite and husband, Joe, Deborah Young and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Michelle Cote and husband, Chad, and Matthew Young; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Drew Cote, all of Ellsworth; and Percy “Sparky” Mailman Jr., who has been like a son to her. She was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Robert E. Staples; and a special companion, Percy “Sparky” Mailman Sr. Calling hours will be held 5- 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 50 School St., Ellsworth, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, with the Rev. Barry Blackstone officiating. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery.
