GRAND ISLE – John Allesandro Mongiello, 65, died Feb. 25, 2008, at Caribou after a brief illness. He was born March 25, 1942, in Lynn, Mass., the son of John and Assunta (Fabucci) Mongiello. He was a graduate of Lynn High School and served with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was also a member of the National Guard in Haverhill, Mass. John received an associates degree from Northeastern University, Boston and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maine – Fort Kent. He was employed by the U.S. Postal service for many years. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, Grand Isle. John was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family and family was very important to him. John will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He married Ada (Beaupre) Mongiello, May 30, 1966. Surviving, in addition to his wife of Grand Isle, are one son, John Henry Mongiello and his wife, Angela, of Tucson, Ariz.; his grandson, Dominic, who John loved very much in the short time they had together; one brother, Enrico Mongiello and his friend, Mary Ann, of Boxford, Mass.; four sisters, Gloria Terrell of Masa, Ariz., Norma Mongiello of Long Beach, Calif., Emelia Mongiello of Salem, Mass., and Clorinda Bettencort and her husband, John, of Lynn, Mass.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Therese and Gaveriel Sebastian of Grand Isle; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, John Michael Mongiello; and a daughter, Amy Mongiello. A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced in the Bangor Daily News by Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou.
