VAN BUREN – John B. Castonguay, 92, died Dec. 16, 2003, at a Caribou health care facility. He was born in St. Helene, Quebec, Canada, Sept. 28, 1911, the son of Paul and Delina (Castonguay) Castonguay. He was self-employed as a farmer and potato grower all of his life. John was an Army veteran, serving in the European Theatre during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, Levasseur-Farrell Post No. 49 of Van Buren. He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Lebel) Castonguay of Van Buren; one daughter, Lou Ann Castonguay of Gray; one son, Victor Castonguay of Weare, N.H.; three stepsons, Roderick Violette of Old Town, Delmer Violette of Manchester, Conn. and Michael Violette of Bangor; one brother, George Castonguay; and one sister, Mary Ann Lebel, both of Van Buren; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 12 High St., Van Buren, 6-8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Friday. A funeral mass will be held at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Friday. Interment will be in the spring. Those who wish may contribute in his memory to the St. Bruno-St. Remi Parish Memorial Fund, 336 Main St., Van Buren.
