ROCKLAND – Ralph F. Billings, 85, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center, Rockport, after an extended illness. Born at Deer Isle, Oct. 17, 1918, he was the son of Pearl and Flavilla Bray Billings. Aug. 16, 1937, he married A. Louise Moulaison in Rockland. He was a longtime active member of the Rockland Lodge of Elks No. 1008 and was a past vice president of South School. Mr. Billings was a past president of the local pipefitters union and for many years volunteered at St. Bernard’s Soup Kitchen. He is survived by his wife of 66 years of Rockland; three sons, Russell Billings and his wife, Barbara, of Woolwich, Thomas Billings of Owls Head, Jack Billings and his companion, Cynthia Goodnow, of Rockland; two daughters, Flavilla Molloy and her husband, Thomas, Charlotte Billings, all of Rockland; two brothers, Austin Billings of Swans Island, Sheldon Billings of Anaheim, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours were held Tuesday evening at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, Rockland. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bob Gagnon Cancer Care Fund, care of Northeast Health, 22 White St., Rockland, ME 04841.
