GLENBURN – John C. Boardman, 68, died Aug. 20, 2007, at his home. He was born in Springfield, Mass., the son of John and Elaine (Nichols) Boardman. John was involved in Boy Scouts growing up and continued scouting with his son, David. He was the former owner of Maine Fire Protection and later founded Sprinkler Engineering and Supply. He was a friend and mentor to many in the fire protection industry. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, a former member of the town planning board and enjoyed collecting and restoring vintage British motorcycles. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Brenda (Getchell) Boardman; one son and his wife, David Boardman and Laurie of Holden; one daughter and her husband, Cindy and Martin Douglas Jr. of Dedham; one sister, Nancy Robertson of Bangor; three grandchildren, Kristin and Nicholas Boardman and Christopher Douglas; many nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone, pastor of the Bangor Advent Christian Church, officiating.
