FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. – John Charles Hatfield, 64, of 866 Hunter Road, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at his home after a short illness. Born Sept. 25, 1943, in Alexander, he was the son of the late Cecil Arthur and Edith Keene Hatfield. After serving in the 173rd Airborne Battalion, Mr. Hatfield married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Ivey of Sherman Station, July 3, 1965. After earning a master’s degree in divinity from Tennessee Temple University, he preached for six years. He later started his own garage construction business, which he ran for 30 years, and built three of his own houses. Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Sharon Hatfield; daughters, Angie Rose, Heather Greer, Lisa Campbell, Melissa Puckett, Erica Robinson and Juliana Chapman; five sisters, two brothers and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Joan Margaret; and two brothers. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, Simpsonville, S.C., with burial afterward at Cannon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Howze Mortuary and Cremation Service, Travelers Rest, S.C., and again before the service 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.
