CARIBOU – John S. Dunning Jr., 64, died, Dec. 8, 2004, at Caribou. He was born Sept. 25, 1940, at Washing-ton, D.C., the son of John S. and Mary (Ursula) Dunning Sr. John served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and was employed by the U.S. Department of Defense in the computer field for many years. He was a member of the Henry B. Pratt Post No. 15 American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Fort Fairfield Rifle and Pistol Club and the National Rifle Association. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Donald Gross of Belfast; one brother, William H. Dunning of Bladensburg, Md.; three sisters, Annie Hallock, Margaret Norris of Bladensburg, Maryland and Mary U. Clark of California; six grandchildren, Jason E. Bowie Jr., Matthew S. Bowie, Brittny E. Gross, Bridgette L. Gross, Brianna E. Gross and Rachel E. Gross. He was predeceased by a daughter, Alice Lorraine Caltrider. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, with evening military services being held at 7 p.m., by the officers and members of the American Legion. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Palmer, pastor, officiating. Spring interment will take place in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
