EDDINGTON – John E. Adams, 81, died March 6, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Holden, the son of George and Mary (Coleman) Adams. John worked for more than 40 years as a carpenter in Local Union 1996. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Pacific. He enjoyed the great outdoors, his family, friends, neighbors, building and inventing neat things in his workshop. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Arnold) Adams of Eddington; one son, Dana and his wife, Wanda Adams, of Glenburn; two daughters, Vicky and her husband, Steven Sandell of Arizona, and Linda and her husband, James Reeves, of Bath; four brothers, George Adams of Dedham, Joseph Adams of Corinth, David Adams of Florida and Fred Adams of California; five sisters, Mary Patterson of Brewer, Pauline Mercier, Nellie Hamm, Dorothy Nelligan and Louise Bissell, all of Holden; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Robert; and two sisters, Alice Sherman and Margaret Loper. A service of remembrance will be celebrated 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Memorial Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor, with the Rev. Roland Nadeau, Roman Catholic chaplain at St. Joseph Hospital, officiating.
