GLENBURN – John E. Clark Jr., 78, went home to be with his Lord Friday, Jan. 14, 2005. He was born July 1, 1926, in Glenburn, the son of John E. and Mary A. (Craig) Clark. John served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of the VFW Post No. 11191 of Newport. He was a member of the IBEW No. 1253 Electricians Union for many years, retiring in 1990. John was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church having worked with the Awana Club and vacation Bible school. He was a member of Kenduskeag Lodge No. 137 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Bangor, Mt. Moriah RAC, Bangor Council, St. John’s Commandery, Katahdin York Rite College, Past Commanders Association, Order of the High Priesthood, Order of the Silver Trowel, and Anah Shriners. John was a charter member of the AARP. He loved the outdoors and gardening. He was predeceased by a son, John E. Clark III. Surviving are his wife, Marie E. Clark of Glenburn; his children, Robert A. Clark of Bangor, Jackie E. Burpee and her husband, Marcus, of Orland, Deborah Parks and her husband, Edward, of Kansas, Brenda Burgess and her husband, Tony, of Auburn; stepchildren, Eugene Barriault of New Hampshire, Michael Barriault of Bucksport, Donald Barriault of Newport, Darlene Harding and her husband, Ray, of Madison, Norma Chase and her husband, Eldon, of Milo; 23 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Overlock of Hermon, Evelyn Goodridge of Bangor; two brothers, Spurgeon Clark of Texas, Norman Clark of Glenburn; he was a special uncle to several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 18, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday by the Grand Commandery. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Calvary Baptist Church, State Street, Brewer, with the Rev. Roger Davis, pastor officiating.
