DEXTER – John E. Irvin, 93, died Jan. 1, 2005, at a Dexter healthcare facility. He was born Aug. 20, 1911, in Bangor, son of Herbert and Catherine (Baker) Irvin. John was one of the original founders and past president of the Dexter Fish and Game Association. He enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and was an avid bird watcher and sportsman. He worked for Bucknam and Mountain Hardware Store for many years and later for Fay Scott Landis until his retirement. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, in 1998, Addie (Fanjoy) Irvin. He is survived by a son and his companion, Robert J. Irvin and Donna Bell; and a special grandson, Kenneth A. Irvin, all of Dexter; granddaughter, Amy Irvin Witham; and great-grandson, Gregory Pinnette, all of Vermont; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter.
