TOPSFIELD – John E. Rhoades, 77, passed away Nov. 9, 2006, surrounded by his family at his home. Born April 2, 1929, the son of Bion M. and Vivian G. Rhoades. He worked as a farmer, woodman and general laborer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and being with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 61 years, Barbara (Noyes) Rhoades of Topsfield; his sister, Nina E. Rhoades of Topsfield; six children, daughter, Grace and husband, Richard Hraba, of Blaine, Minn.; daughter, Gail Jason of Putum, Conn.; son, Daniel and wife, Joyce Rhoades, of Topsfield; daughter, Mary Rhoades and companion, Kirk Boyington, of Lincoln; daughter, Marion and husband, Vaughn Monk, of Topsfield; son, Edgar and wife, Cindy Rhoades, of Topsfield; 12 grandchildren, Allen and wife, Beth, John and wife, Shelly, Karen and husband, Paul, Tina, Larry and wife, Sherrie, Robert, Steven, Mark, Michelle, Melissa, Jennifer and Scott; 12 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Cadi, Tarah, Alec, Adam, Joel, Luke, Austin, Whitley, Zackary, Alayna and Asa. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the family cemetery in Topsfield. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
