CALAIS – Nina C. Saunders, 85, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at a Calais nursing home. Nina was born Jan. 3, 1921, in Calais, daughter of the late Edmond and Gertrude (Clark) Cookson. She was employed by Calais Regional Hospital for many years. Nina was a former member of the Advent Christian Church and helped people with their tax returns for more than 50 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel A. Saunders Sr.; and many brothers and sisters. Surviving are her three children, Judith Antoniello, Nancy Perry and husband, Ernest, and Samuel Saunders Jr. and wife, Kristi, all of Calais; five grandchildren, Victor and Andrew Antoniello, Jamie Perry, Jennifer McNeil and Allison Ackinson; seven great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Richard Cookson; and a special niece, Mary Donovan.
