CARMEL and LINCOLN – John Edward Van Alstyne Sr., 65, died Oct. 4, 2004, at his residence in Carmel. He was born Dec. 2, 1938, in Jersey City, N.J., the son of Edward and Margaret (Ward) Van Alstyne. Mr. Van Alstyne worked as a mechanic and was an avid cribbage player. He is survived by his children, Diana and Charles Mulligan of Carmel, John Van Alstyne Jr. of Lincoln, Barbara Worster of Kingman, Nettie Ann Ryder of Lincoln, Dusty Van Alstyne of Lincoln, Garrett Van Alstyne of Mastic Beach, N.Y., Amanda Van Alstyne of Lincoln, Marcus Van Alstyne of Lincoln, Noah Van Alstyne of Byfield, Mass.; grandchildren, Jeremy Doane and Tara Dill of Carmel, Heidi Doane of Brewer, Laci Van Alstyne, MacKenzie King, and Dominic Van Alstyne, all of Lincoln and Brenden Susanno of Mattawamkeag; great-grandson, Jaydan Oliver of Brewer; brothers and sisters, David and Charlotte Van Alstyne, Edward and Maryann Van Alstyne, Garrett Van Alstyne, Arlene Garcionne, Marjorie Young, Helen Healy, Judy Jenkins, all of New Jersey, and Barbara Florre, of Pennsylvania; special friends, Joshuia Ryder of Jonesport, Randy Burke of Lincoln, Vanessa Long of Mastic Beach, N.Y. and Colleen Getchell of Byfield, Mass.; many, many, nieces, nephews, friends and family. He was predeceased by his parents, and by a special granddaughter, Daisy Cadaan Ryder.
