KENDUSKEAG – John Franklin Daigle Sr., 83, died Feb. 2, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Calais, son of John X. and Georgia (Mundie) Daigle. John was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, retiring as seaman first class. He was employed for many years by International Harvester Co., and retired as parts manager for Leadbetters International of Bangor. John was a former member of the Masonic Bodies. Surviving are his wife, Ida M. (Thayer) Daigle of Kenduskeag; three children, John F. Daigle Jr. and Carmen DeTour of Kenduskeag, Susan G. Daigle and Katherine E. Daigle, both of Bangor; two stepchildren, Edward A. Small of Glenburn and Rhonda J. Bickmore of Kenduskeag; six grandchildren, Nicole, Amy, John, Renee, Breanna and Micah; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Noyes of South Portland; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Staff Sgt. Eric Ross, who was killed in action in Iraq, Feb. 9, 2007. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Stephen D. Hall, pastor of the Harvard Chapel, Levant, officiating.
