BEALS – John H. Tibbetts, 61, passed away May 9, 2007, after a long illness. He was born July 23, 1945, in Bar Harbor, the son of the late Horace V. and Kathleen (Pottle) Tibbetts. John worked for his grandfather, John W. Tibbetts and his father, Horace Tibbetts hauling fish scales. He also worked for many years in the sardine factories. He shared 23 years of marriage with Lucille (Beal) of Beals. In addition to his wife, family members include two stepdaughters, Karen Thompson and husband, Dale, and Cheryl Tibbetts and friend, Grover Faulkingham Jr.; two brothers, Theadore L. Tibbetts and wife, Allison, and Theadore “Red” Tibbetts; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by stepgrandchildren, Wilford, Michael, Tori, Tammy, Trudy, Tim, and Valerie; and great-stepgrandchildren, Isaiah, Tyler, and Mallory. John was predeceased by a brother, Leland E. Tibbetts; and his grandparents, John and Rose Tibbetts. Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 11, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call noon until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
