ORONO – John J. McDonough, 100, formerly of Boston and Marshfield, Mass., husband of the late Blanche (Murphy) McDonough, died Jan. 2, 2007, at a local health care facility. He was a gas station owner in the Boston area for 40 years. After 26 years in Marshfield, Mass., he moved to Orono to be with his son, John J. McDonough Jr. and family. John, considered to be an expert fisherman, was also an avid Red Sox fan and Black Bear hockey fan. He is survived by five children, James F. of Cincinnati, John J. Jr. of Orono, Sue McDonough Neff of Needham, Mass., Edward N. and Dr. Kate of Green Harbor, Mass.; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Private graveside services will be held at Winslow Cemetery, Marshfield, Mass. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments noon-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Green Harbor Yacht Club, Marshfield, Mass.
