BANGOR and PRESQUE ISLE – John “Jack” B. Blalack, 60, died Dec. 6, 2006, surrounded by his family and friends at a Bangor hospital. He was born Aug. 25, 1946, in Presque Isle, the son of John and Geraldine (Patton) Blalack. Jack was a member of the local area ham radio club and was known as N1YIL and enjoyed being in his radio room with his radio collection. He enjoyed camping, fishing, car shows, tattoo shows and rides to the Bar Harbor area. When he couldn’t do hands-on activities or repairs anymore, he would become the supervisor and often mentioned how much he enjoyed having his grandsons around and their willingness to help with all the things that he couldn’t do. He enjoyed also working on cars, having barbecues, projects around the house and having family and friends around. The daycare children called him “Jackie Boy” and he enjoyed having them around. He was a big jokester and storyteller. We often heard the same joke and heard the same story over and over, but they always kept us laughing. Jack is survived by his wife, Ann (Soucy) Blalack of Bangor; two sons, Kevin and his wife, Cathy, of Presque Isle and Sam and his fiance, Marie Cattelle, of Bangor; one sister, Jean Beaulieu of Westfield; grandchildren, Eric Legassie and Karen, Ricky Gray and Christy and Kevin Legassie; great-grandchildren, Alexis Legassie, Brooke and Conner Gray. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where funeral services will be held noon Saturday, Dec. 9, with the Rev. Larry Palmer, pastor of the Westfield Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com
