RIPLEY and PITTSFIELD “Doc” Woodcock, born Jan. 29, 1915, died peacefully at his Pittsfield home on the evening of July 4, 2008. Surrounded by his family, John made his long- awaited journey to be reunited with his soulmate, Laura. Many were blessed to know John as friend, colleague or neighbor. He left us with many gifts; especially the memories of moments spent with him and the unforgettable twinkle of his blue eyes that made us remember the kid within us all. We mourn our loss with great appreciation for the man he was and the inspiration he continues to be. We learned many great things from this quiet and soft-spoken man and carry the examples he showed us as: a loyal and loving spouse to Laura, a parent and grandparent to Lois, Jane, Dana, Vaughan, Dan, Scott and the countless others he took under his wing, a veterinarian and friend to the farmers of central Maine, a caring and giving member of the communities of Pittsfield and Ripley. We will celebrate John’s life 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at Unitarian Universalist Church of Pittsfield. Friends, colleagues, neighbors and loved ones are invited and encouraged to bring stories – oral or written – to remember this wonderful man. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
